You know whats really weird when you live and breath photography and are always taking photos??? When you become the subject of the photos!
Nicole and I hadn’t had any professional photos taken of us since our wedding, back in April of 2011 (can’t believe its already almost been 2 yrs!) so we were long overdue for some great shots of us getting cozy and having fun. For this photo shoot we enlisted the help of a photographer who we had looked up to since we first started in this crazy business of wedding photography – the oh so sweet Melissa McClure! Other than being “friends” on facebook we had never had the pleasure of meeting Melissa until the day of our shoot but I can truly say we had a great time walking, talking and not only talking biz and getting to know each other but of course getting some awesome shots!
We decided to shoot at SDSU because its one of the few places important to Nicole and myself. We both graduated from there in 2007 but it also was the location of our very first “date”…muahaha…so I guess now I should tell the story aye?
…We first met while working at good ol’ Sea World where we worked while in college. We were 18 years old and it was summer before college started for me, Nicole was going into her 2nd year (older girl…score!!! :)). So after we got to talking a bit more and more at Sea World and after I got “the digits” we ended up deciding to hang out outside of work, to walk the campus at SDSU to see where my classes were going to be. I thought this was such a smooth idea on my part of course because little did she know that I already knew the campus since I lived across the street from it my entire life…muahaha! So the day came, and she drove up in her older light blue colored volvo and when I saw her get out of the car I thought….ohhhhh man, this girl is HOT and how did I land this “date”? I, of course, had on my staple outfit…shorts and a t-shirt and converse or skate shoes and off we went, walking to SDSU. I’ll spare you the rest of the details other than the details of my smooth 18 yr old moves like buying us Slurpee’s at 7-11, and when she made a comment about her wishing she had a hair tie I ran off to ask and find her a rubber band to use…I told you I was smooth 🙂 Wellllll I must have done something right because the whole day just felt right. Of course at 18 years old we had NO CLUE where this new relationship would ultimately lead us. Looking back its pretty amazing. We are now going on 10 years together, work side by side together and I love her to pieces!
These photos mean a lot to us and every time I look at them I like them more and more! Thank you Melissa for the amazing photos – you are not just an awesome photographer but a great person 🙂
