I’ve always said my hands down favorite part of being a wedding photographer is having the chance to meet so many amazing people that I wouldn’t otherwise have had the chance to meet. It’s not uncommon at all for Nicole and I to end up becoming very good friends with our clients. With that said, I’d like to tell you how fortunate we are to have met and become friends with Ashley & John – two people with a heart of gold, a love for having a great time, each other, and their favorite restaurant, Cucina Urbana!
Ashley & John’s Oceanview Room Wedding had elements of Hawaii incorporated in the details, especially during the ceremony, which was very fitting for these two who met almost 3 years ago on Ala Moana Beach in Waikiki. When Ashley caught John’s eye on the beach John and a buddy decided to break the ice by asking Ashley and her friend if they could borrow their bright orange & pink floaties…it proved to be a great move because when they returned the floaties they decided to invite the girls to a sweet BBQ (which was really just a hibachi grill and smaller cooler with beer) and just like that, what seemed innocent and playful fun was the start of quite the story between these two 🙂
Fast forward to the wedding day, it was awesome. The friends, family, details, weather, entertainment, the vendors and of course the photos were all amazing. Ashley & John, Nicole and I feel so lucky to have had the chance to work with you guys and become friends, here’s to wishing you nothing but the best on your newest journey in Washington – a trip to Bo-Beau will be awaiting when you guys are back in town!
Ashley & John’s wedding day started off at the always amazing US Grant where Ashely & the ladies were getting ready…
I love all of these shots Nicole got of Ashley…what a stunning bride!
As you can see, John cleans up quite well too!
Rather than a limo, we all had a blast riding in the “white wedding trolley”
Ashley & John chose to do a 1st look which was not only a sweet and special moment but allowed them to have a ton of time for us to get awesome photos!
We left the US Grant en route to the Oceanview Room but first did more portraits all around Liberty Station.
Love this portrait of each of them.
Ashley & John had undoubtedly the best officiant in San Diego we’ve ever worked with, Bethel ALWAYS does a truly magical and emotional ceremony!
Having amazing photos was important to Ashley & John, so we snuck away from the reception for 10 min and got some of my favorite photos of the day.
Ashley did a tremendous job with all of the little details, including these cute signs for the back of their chairs with their nicknames they call each other.
