Jackie & Gerry’s wedding has been a looooong time coming. Its been a pretty long engagement for them and a just about equally long time that I have been waiting for their big day to come since they booked me about a year and a half before their wedding. Wedding photos were very important to both of them so before even booking me for their wedding they first booked just their engagement photos with me. We had an absolute blast hanging out with them at Balboa Park (and shot forever that day!) for their engagement session. They were both fun, very relaxed and natural in front of the camera and very photogenic. They were ecstatic with how the photos turned out and after that it was a fairly quick decision that they wanted myself and Nicole to be the ones to photograph their wedding too – now we were ecstatic, but knew it was soooo long away 🙂
Fast forward 18 months…on Sept 3rd 2011 their big day finally was upon us. Nicole and I started off with the ladies at Hotel Solamar where we got some detail shots and the last of the getting ready type shots before Gerry was going to head over from the Hard Rock Hotel to see Jackie for the very first time. After the first look we headed over to Admiral Kidd Club to get ready for the ceremony & reception. Side note – in the weeks and days prior to the wedding as the 3 of us discussed the timeline Jackie and Gerry did NOT want to see each other beforehand and do a 1st look. I always respect the wishes of my clients but its also my job to educate and suggestions of the pros and cons of first look vs no first look. In their specific case I knew they really would be better off by doing a first look. They LOVE photos and wanted the very best for their wedding photos but they also had a very tight wedding day schedule, long story short, the week of the wedding they emailed me saying they have decided to do a first look and during the entire wedding day they were so glad they did! I am too, because we had ample time to take photos in a very relaxed way and man o man did we get some amazing shots of these two.
We were also fortunate to be working alongside a vendor dream team line-up who consisted of:
This is I think my largest blog post ever….but so be it…all the photos are gorgeous! Enjoy everyone!
